Why fromFridge exists.
You've been there. You search for a recipe and land on a page that opens with three paragraphs about someone's grandmother, a childhood kitchen, and a trip to Tuscany — before a single ingredient shows up. You scroll and scroll, just trying to find out how much flour to use.
fromFridge was built because that shouldn't be the experience. You already know why you're here: something's in the fridge, and you want to know what to do with it. So that's what we give you — ingredients, steps, done. If a cook wants to leave a quick note — a substitution, a serving suggestion — that's fine too, but it's capped at a couple of sentences. Never a chapter.
What we believe
- Recipes are instructions, not essays. Nobody opens a cookbook looking for a memoir.
- Your time matters. If a recipe takes 20 minutes to make, it shouldn't take 5 minutes to read.
- Real people, real recipes. Every recipe here is submitted by a home cook and reviewed before it goes live — not scraped, not generated, not padded for search engines.
- Rate what's actually good. Star ratings from real users mean the best recipes rise, not just the ones with the best storytelling.
How it works
Anyone can browse. Registered users can submit their own recipes and rate the ones they've tried. Every submission gets a quick review before it's published, so what you find here stays reliable. If ads aren't your thing, an ad-free membership is available — but the recipes themselves are, and always will be, just the recipe.
No stories. No detours. Just ingredients, steps, and dinner on the table.
