Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tsp Kosher salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp yeast
- 2 cups hot tap water
Instructions
- In a large bowl mix to combine dry ingredients with a wooden spoon.
- Add hot tap water and stir with the handle of the spoon until dough is formed. Don't worry if it is inconsistent, that will make the bread better later.
- Cover with plastic wrap and place in a warm area to proof for 1-3 hours, or until at least doubled in size and giggles when bowl is slightly shaken.
- Sprinkle top of the dough and counter or bread board with flour, then scrape dough onto the floured area.
- Use a spatula or dough scraper to work the dough into a round by folding from outer edge to the middle about six times as you work your way around the dough.
- Scrape it to the middle of a square of parchment paper and let sit while the Dutch oven preheats to 450 degrees.
- Once oven is heated, use the corners of the parchment to place dough into the Dutch oven.
- Put the lid on and bake for 35 minutes with lid on, then 12 minutes with lid off.
- Cool before cutting.
- Enjoy!
- Also needed: plastic wrap, parchment paper, a Dutch oven.
