This is really good bread lightly toast with a little butter or margarine.
Ingredients
- 3 cups white flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp Kosher salt
- 1 tbsp molasses
- 2 cups hot tap water
Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
- Measure hot tap water and add molasses, stir to combine.
- Add wet to dry ingredients and stir with the handle of a spoon until a rough dough ball forms.
- Cover with plastic wrap and proof in a warm spot for 1-3 hours, or until dough is at least doubled in size and giggles when the bowl is moved.
- Sprinkle flour on counter and top of dough before scraping dough out of bowl onto floured surface.
- Use more flour over top of dough before using a flat scraper to work dough from outside to middle, working around the dough until a rough ball is formed.
- Transfer to the center of a square of parchment, seam side down, and let sit while oven heats to 450.
- Heat Dutch oven in oven and preheat to 450 degrees.
- Once heated, use parchment paper to transfer dough to Dutch oven.
- Place Dutch oven into the oven, covered, and bake for 40 minutes.
- Cool on a rack for 40 minutes before slicing.
